Which type of massage is right for me? Swedish or Deep Tissue?

If you are looking for overall relaxation and stress relief, Swedish massage is excellent for relieving tight muscles and to help promote overall relaxation.

Some common questions we hear from our clients are, “Which type of massage is right for me?” and “What’s the difference between a Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue Massage?”

Swedish or Deep Tissue

There are many different types of massage available. Primarily in use at Serenity are Swedish and Deep Tissue.

Swedish Massage is used to promote relaxation by using slow, long, circular strokes with light to medium pressure. Swedish massage increases blood circulation and moves metabolic waste out of the body.  This helps relieve pain, improve mood, decrease nervous tension, improve sleep, and promote clear thinking. If you are looking for overall relaxation and stress relief, Swedish massage is the one for you.

Deep Tissue Massage is used to relieve specific stressed muscles. Deep tissue is popular with athletes maintaining prolonged, hard workouts.  Additionally, Deep Tissue is a great therapy for chronic pain, such as tension headaches and back pain.

Finally, while Swedish Massage and Deep Tissue Massage are the primary techniques we use for massage therapy, there are many more. Every Massage Therapist is aware that every guest that walks into Serenity Massage is unique and because of this, your therapist will work with you to ensure that, no matter what modality you choose, you will leave feeling … Simply Better!
